This is a review of the fit, since I have just gotten it in late spring and can't try it outdoors. Like the non-hooded version, it's well-made, close-fitting, and sharp looking. The hood is superb. Pulls down and snugs right around the head. Best hood I've seen on a jacket. But the fit is even tighter than the non-hooded version, at least through the underarms. I'm 5-10 and 140 or less, so most Smalls are roomy, if not huge, on me. I tried both a Small and a Medium and the latter was right for me (for the non-hooded version, which I tried on, a Small was snug but workable with a single layer underneath; the Medium in the hooded will work with a couple of thin layers or one moderately thick layer underneath). Sleeves were just slightly long (and, as another reviewer said, are narrow), but my arms are on the short side. Although the hood is dynamite, putting it on gives you a major Dracula collar; zipping it up is a little constricting, but I can see that it would offer serious weather protection. Although it's not designed for casual wear, the addition (compared to the non-hooded version) of two hand pockets (in addition to two angled chest pockets) is welcome. The stretchiness of the material is superb. If your body is the right fit for the jacket, it's almost like a second skin, with great protection against the elements. |
