在backpacker论坛看到有人询问软壳的推荐，有 友建议提供一下信息，个人觉得挺有代表性，转过来供参考【】内是我的翻译，不准确之处请指出
in my opinion the following information would be helpful:

翻译的还不错，不过hiking是指徒步，climbing不光是攀岩，攀冰、登山也包括在内的

Hiking字典里的解释的就是一种walking，所以徒步更准确些，我用爬山主要想中文里爬山的意思可能更通俗地表现大英百科全书里的解释“Walking, often among hills or mountains, as recreational sport.”
Climbing在wiki的解释里：Climbing is the activity of using one's hands and/or one's feet to ascend a steep object.强调攀爬的陡峭，所以，可能中文里登山不是很恰当？

同意！Mountaineering对技术要求更高些， Wiki里的解释：It may be said to consist of three aspects: rock-craft, snow-craft and skiing, depending on whether the route chosen is over rock, snow or ice. All require great athletic and technical ability, and experience is also a very important part of the latter.
